Assembly Fixture

Assembly fixtures orient and locate individual parts on their critical features while attaching, to ensure the part assemblies fit and function in the end use. In this project, there were 2 fixtures (or Stations) to complete the assembly properly (Station 1 shown). This contained a right and left-hand part assembly on one base to speed up the assembly process, save space and the cost of having another fixture.

This fixture underwent many changes along the way, consisting of part design changes that in turn required fixture modifications. When automation needs arose, we were able to make these changes in a timely fashion with the help of our CAD/CAM system. Also having the ability to reuse many of the existing components with modifications where possible to save our customer money and shorten the lead-time.
